Abdul Sattar Edhi (1928-2016) , pride of Pakistan.
He was a philanthropist, social activist, ascetic and humanitarian. Founder of the world’s largest ambulance services that provides its services 24 hours. He was the founder of a non profit organization that’s services are endless… nursing homes, orphanages, clinics, women’s shelters, and rehab centres for drug addicts and mentally ill individuals and much more – all under the name of Edhi Foundation.
He was Pakistan’s “Father Teresa”. He was a legend no doubt. He was an angel of Mercy. He was an inspiration.
He received many national and international awards for his services. He is now nominated for Noble prize. It’s a shame that we praise people when they are gone but this is also true that Edhi didn’t need Noble prize, it was noble prize that needed Edhi.
He led the most simple that no other such famous personality could ever bare. He didn’t only donated his whole life for the sake of humanity but even after his death his eyes are lighting up lives. As it was his last wish to donate his organs after his death.
His death was merely a great lose ever for Pakistan or should say for Humanity.
After Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Zia ul Haq, he was the third Pakistani to receive great historical state gun carriage funeral. He definitely deserved that respect. His funeral was attended by almost every high ranked politicians and armed force officers.
His charitable foundation that he created all alone is working with same ideology after him. Now it’s our duty of make sure that this foundation must keep going on their mission as always.
We may not have such great person ever again but we can keep him alive if his mission lives forever.
“People have become educated, but have yet to become human.”
